Minister Kenney cannot publicly talk about CSIC. CSIC is, aside from all the things it is, such as a “tribunal” and a “Regulator” is a private company

THE TRAIN IS ALMOST AT THE STATION

It is the silence that comes, whether in the Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star or other papers across the country. It is the silence that comes from Jason Kenny yesterday, Sunday, as he spoke to CTV News and other interested parties here in Toronto. No one knows what they really want to know and no one will officially until an Act of Parliament is introduced into Parliament, Tuesday, June 8th, 2010.

The Minister cannot publicly talk about CSIC. CSIC is, aside from all the things it is, such as a “tribunal” and a “Regulator” is a private company. The Minister cannot, in advance, cause pandemonium amongst some 1750 CCIC’s whose business supports their families and, in order to Practice, must be “authorized representatives” and, consequently, Members of CSIC.

Tomorrow will be a day filled with anxiety and angst, with dreams dashed and hopes fulfilled. It will be a day of confusion and maybe still many unanswered questions. More questions as we transfer into a new day, whatever it has in store for us.

We do know that the train is slowing down and will reach the station in the morning. What gets off and what the future holds is unknown, if you read today’s newspapers.

We do know that our world will fundamentally change, one way or the other, through this Act of Parliament and the Regulations that will not be announced to implement it.

In the end, the TRAGEDY IN THE MAKING may have a public final chapter. Let us hope that it is best for the Profession, that it has wisely been considered and know that we must be prepared to live with whatever the outcome since we will continue to be regulated, although the throne of power may be occupied by a scheme that is vastly different.
